Discord timestamp generator
Pick a date and time: the tool gives you the code to paste in Discord for each of the 9 formats, with a preview. In a message, that code shows in each member’s own time zone.
Free, no account. Everything is computed in your browser: the date you pick is never sent or stored.
Updated
Example shown before the tool loads: April 20, 2021 at 9:20:30 PM UTC.
You can also paste an existing timestamp. 13 digits? Those are milliseconds, they get converted.

How do I use the generator?
- Pick the date and time. They are read in your browser’s time zone, shown under the fields.
- Or paste an existing Unix timestamp: 10 digits for seconds, 13 digits for milliseconds (the tool converts them).
- Find the format you want in the table and copy its code, for example <t:1618953630:R>.
- Paste the code in a message, an embed description or your bot’s reply. Discord replaces it with the formatted date.
What are the Discord timestamp formats?
A timestamp is written <t:SECONDS:STYLE>. The style letter picks the display; with no letter, <t:1618953630> uses style f. The examples below show the timestamp from Discord’s documentation, read in UTC by a member using Discord in US English, three hours later.
| Style | Code | Example | Display |
|---|---|---|---|
t | <t:1618953630:t> | 9:20 PM | short time |
T | <t:1618953630:T> | 9:20:30 PM | medium time, with seconds |
d | <t:1618953630:d> | 04/20/2021 | short date |
D | <t:1618953630:D> | April 20, 2021 | long date |
f | <t:1618953630:f> | April 20, 2021 at 9:20 PM | long date, short time (default style) |
F | <t:1618953630:F> | Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 9:20 PM | full date with the weekday, short time |
s | <t:1618953630:s> | 04/20/2021, 9:20 PM | short date, short time |
S | <t:1618953630:S> | 04/20/2021, 9:20:30 PM | short date, medium time |
R | <t:1618953630:R> | 3 hours ago | relative time, updated live |
Why does each member see a different time?
The number in the code is a Unix timestamp: the seconds elapsed since January 1, 1970 at midnight UTC. It names one exact moment, everywhere in the world. Discord converts it into each member’s time zone and language.
So <t:1618953630:t> shows 9:20 PM to a member set to UTC and 5:20 PM to a member in New York, which is at UTC-4 in April. For a game night or an event, no need to write “Eastern time” anymore.
Which mistakes should I avoid?
- Pasting milliseconds: Discord expects seconds. A 13-digit number (like Date.now() in JavaScript) must be divided by 1000, otherwise the date comes out completely wrong.
- Wrapping the code in backticks or a code block: Discord then shows it as is, without converting it.
- Copying the preview instead of the code: the text “April 20, 2021” stays fixed, only the code adapts to each member.
- Picking the time in the wrong time zone: if you plan an event for another country, convert the time into your own zone before typing it, or paste the Unix timestamp directly.
- Forgetting the closing bracket: <t:1618953630:R without > stays plain text.
Where does this information come from?

Frequently asked questions
How do I show a time that adapts to everyone’s time zone on Discord?
Write a timestamp in the <t:SECONDS:STYLE> format, for example <t:1618953630:f>. Discord shows it in each member’s time zone and language.
Which format should I use for a countdown?
Style R, like <t:1618953630:R>. It shows “in 2 hours” or “3 days ago” and updates on its own.
Can a bot use these timestamps?
Yes. The code works in a bot message’s text and in an embed’s description or fields, exactly like in a message typed by hand.
Does the tool send the date I pick?
No. The calculation and the preview happen in your browser, nothing is sent to discbot.net or anywhere else.
Want a bot that announces your events with the right time for everyone? Describe it in plain words, the discbot.net assistant writes it for you. It is free for now.
