A poll bot for Discord
A poll bot adds a command such as /poll: one member asks, the others vote with buttons and the results update as they click. Discord also has built-in polls, which are great for a quick vote. A bot is for when you want your own rules: role-only voting, changeable votes, the organizer closing the poll.

What does a bot poll look like?
Make a /poll command with a question and up to four choices as buttons. One vote per member, which they can change, and live results.
discbot.netDone. /poll is written and checked.
Your vote for Mario Kart is saved. Click another choice to change it.
Which voting rules can you ask for?
Anything you can describe simply. A few requests that work well:
- “One vote per member, changeable until the poll closes.”
- “Only members with the Subscriber role can vote.”
- “A Close button everyone sees but only the person who started the poll can use.”
- “More than four choices? Use a dropdown menu instead of buttons.”
- “Keep a history of polls and add a /results command to read them back.”
Votes are kept in the bot’s storage. A restart or a new version loses none of them.
How do you create the /poll command?
- Describe the poll
In your bot’s chat, give the command name, the number of choices and the voting rules. The assistant writes the command and its buttons. It speaks French for now.
- Vote in the Tester
Run /poll in the Tester and click the buttons. You see the totals change and the voter’s private reply.
- Prepare the bot on Discord
Get the token (guide) and invite the bot (guide). A poll made of a command and buttons needs no privileged intent.
- Publish
Pick your server on the Publish page. The /poll command shows up in Discord as soon as it is published.
Bot poll or Discord’s built-in poll: which one?
Built-in polls start from the message bar: up to 10 answers, a duration from 1 hour to 1 week, multiple answers if you allow them. For a one-off vote they are enough, and need no bot.
A bot helps when the poll follows your own rules: a required role, changeable votes, a saved history, the organizer closing it, or one format the whole team reuses every week.
What does the bot not do yet?
- Create a Discord built-in poll: the bot runs its polls with buttons or a menu.
- Draw a results chart: it writes the results as text in an embed.
- Export votes to a file or a spreadsheet, or send them to another website.
Frequently asked questions
Is voting anonymous?
The public message only shows totals. The bot remembers who voted to block double votes, and shows nothing more unless you ask it to.
How many choices can a poll have?
Up to 25. Discord allows 5 rows of 5 buttons per message, and 25 options in a dropdown menu.
Do I need to turn on an intent in the Discord portal?
No. A slash command with buttons works without any privileged intent.
Is it free?
Yes, free for now with no credit card. During the private beta, your account must be approved to build and publish.
Free for now. Create your account and run your first /poll once your private beta access is approved.
